  I wanted to recognize Deputy Kment and Sgt. Sharpe for doing an outstanding job. I met both of them this evening proactively keeping my neighborhood safe. I was very impressed by the the demeanor that both of them demonstrated. Their uniforms and appearance were meticulous. They also were very articulate and well spoken. The thing that really motivated me to do this review though was the fact that Deputy Kment and Sgt Sharpe were obviously very concerned about the safety and well being of myself and the people in my neighborhood. I was moved but how much both of them genuinely seemed to care about us. That level of sincerity and compassion for others is very special to me. I felt very compelled to let others know that the employees of the Paulding County Sheriffs Office "Really Do Care". They actually reminded me of an officer that I knew a long time ago. He was a really good man and a held multiple commendations for exemplary service. One a day I candidly asked him; What made you ever want to be a police officer? His reply was "Because I really care about people. In fact, I Love them". Deputy Kment and Sgt Sharpe do not write tickets and arrest people to punish them or make money for the department. That's the farthest thing from their minds. It was obvious. They enforce laws to keep others safe. They do it the right way. Because they care. Thank you for allowing gentleman like these to protect and serve. They really do deserve to be recognized and thanked. Please do so.

  Need to treat everyone the same! Why are 99% Caucasian kids allowed to hang out in large groups in Kroger's parking lot on Dallas Acworth highway? I absolutely guarantee that you all wouldn't allow a group of blacks to do that! I remember growing up in south Georgia as a very young kid, and I use to ask my mom this question all the time.Law abiding black kids were always disturbed by the police. Drag racing Caucasian kids were never disturbed. No flashing lights in their area.

  For a college course I was required to complete a "ride along" assignment with a local agency and write about my experience. I reached out to Paulding County Sheriff's Office for this assignment. I contacted Lieutenant Colonel Chad Hunton and he replied back to me in a timely manner. I contacted Major Morris the next day like I was told to and left him a message and he called me back the same day. They gave me the option of which day I would like to "ride along" and worked around times that best suited me. I was assigned to Deputy Sheriff Donald Apperson for the day. He is a school resource officer and was a tremendous help in my experience. Not only did he answer my questions for the assignment but he also answered personal questions. Throughout the day, he took me under his wing and helped me better understand the many responsibilities that law enforcement has. I am extremely satisfied with my "ride along" experience and the professionalism that the Paulding County Sheriff's Office displays. I thoroughly enjoyed them responding to my request in a timely manner as well as getting to know Deputy Sheriff Donald Apperson.
